Bakgrunn
For halvannet år siden inviterte vår danske søsterorganisasjon Ingeniører Uten Grenser Danmark oss med på et felles samarbeid med National University of Science and Technology (NUST) og Lupane State University (LSU), basert på at de så et stort potensial i å samarbeide med utdanningsinstitusjoner i land hvor de er involvert. Siden den gang har frivillige fra vårt fagutvalg deltatt på møter med universitetene og IUG Danmark, for å legge grunnlaget for å etablere Engineers Without Borders Zimbabwe og samarbeide om kompetansebygging og felles prosjekter basert på lokale behov.
Feltoppdraget
I august reiste Ginta (faggruppeleder IT & digitalisering) og Marin (faggruppemedlem gjenvinning) sammen med sine to danske kollegaer Bo og Christina (WASH) til Zimbabwe. Målet med turen var å utforske muligheter for samarbeid på tiltrengte vann og sanitær prosjekter i Lupane distrikt, og bidra til etableringen av Engineers Without Borders Zimbabwe. I løpet av en uke deltok de på workshop med NUST og LSU, besøkte 5 skoler, og la grunnlaget for videre prosjekter og samarbeid.

Background
A year and a half ago, our Danish sister organization Engineers Without Borders Denmark invited us to join a collaboration with the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and Lupane State University (LSU), because they saw great potential in cooperating with educational institutions in countries where they are involved. Since then, volunteers from our academic committee have participated in meetings with the universities and EWB Denmark, to lay the foundation for establishing Engineers Without Borders Zimbabwe and collaborate on competence building and projects based on local needs.
Field assignment
In August, Ginta (techincal committer group leader "IT & digitalization") and Marin (group member "recycling") traveled with their two Danish colleagues Bo and Christina (WASH) to Zimbabwe. The aim of the trip was to explore opportunities for collaboration on much-needed water and sanitation projects in Lupane district and contribute to the creation of Engineers Without Borders Zimbabwe. During a week, they participated in a workshop with NUST and LSU, visited 5 schools, and laid the foundation for further projects and collaborations.
