Som en del av Master med Mening-programmet har masterstudentene Ulrik Lullau og Leander Eiring, med støtte fra sine mentorer Annika Schartmüller og Torstein Bigset Riise, designet et kjølelager for Trax Ghana sitt drivhus i Bolgatanga, i Nord-Ghana. De har også bidratt i innkjøpsprosessen og fulgt opp under bygging og testing av kjølelageret.

Trax Ghana er en NGO som i over 30 år har arbeidet for å styrke matsikkerhet, fremme utdanning for jenter og forebygge barneekteskap. Gjennom sitt drivhusprosjekt gir de unge jenter yrkesopplæring samtidig som de produserer grønnsaker som ellers ikke kan dyrkes lokalt. Grønnsakene selges på markedet og bidrar til økt verdiskaping i lokalsamfunnet. Alle inntektene fra prosjektet går tilbake til jentene i programmet, for å støtte deres utdanning.
Verdifullt prosjekt
Det nye kjølelageret gjør det mulig å lagre grønnsakene lenger, sikre helårs tilgang til ferske produkter og redusere matsvinn. Dette bidrar både til bedre matsikkerhet og flere muligheter for utdanning og inntekt i lokalsamfunnet.

Meaningful Masters: Cold Storage for a Greenhouse in Northern Ghana
As part of the Meaningful Master’s program, master’s students Ulrik Lullau and Leander Eiring, with support from their mentors Annika Schartmüller and Torstein Bigset Riise, have designed a cold storage facility for Trax Ghana’s greenhouse in Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana. They also contributed to the procurement process and followed up during construction and testing of the facility.
About Trax Ghana
Trax Ghana is an NGO that has, for over 30 years, worked to strengthen food security, promote girls’ education, and prevent child marriage. Through its greenhouse project, the organization provides vocational training for young girls while producing vegetables that cannot otherwise be grown locally. The vegetables are sold on the market, creating added value for the community. All income from the project goes back to the girls in the program, supporting their education.
A valuable project
The new cold storage facility makes it possible to store vegetables for longer, ensure year-round access to fresh produce and reduce food loss. This contributes both to improved food security and to increased opportunities for education and income in the local community.
