11.06.25: Market Dialogue - PREW (Pyrolysis/Gasification Reducing Emissions from Waste)

PREW (Pyrolysis/Gasification Reducing Emissions from Waste) is a collaborative initiative led by Engineers Without Borders Norway, in partnership with the World Food Programme, Strømme Foundation, and Human Brights, with funding support from Innovation Norway. The project aims to reduce harmful emissions caused by burning waste in rural, low-resource areas — while exploring productive uses of the heat generated in the process. Now we are looking for new partners to prepare for the implementation phase.

Date: Wednesday, June 11th
Location: Mesh Nationaltheatret, Tordenskiolds gate 2
Time: 09:00–11:30 (Doors open at 09:00 for coffee and light refreshments. Dialogue begins at 09:30.)

We aim to find the right partner(s) to join us in one or more of the following areas:
▪️Developing and manufacturing pyrolysis/gasification units based on insights from the first two prototypes already built.
▪️Exploring and developing solutions for utilizing the excess heat (the "X factor") generated by the process.
▪️Identifying sustainable and locally feasible methods for starting the pyrolysis/gasification cycle.

Who Should Attend:
▪️Private sector actors with expertise in the design, construction/manufacturing, and local testing or optimization of gasification, pyrolysis, or similar technologies.
▪️Companies or experts with experience in designing systems that convert heat into useful outputs (to be specified), including local testing and optimization.
▪️Innovators with starter fuel solutions that are environmentally friendly, locally producible, and potentially linked to livelihood opportunities.
▪️NGOs with relevant technical expertise or field experience they are willing to contribute.
▪️Any organization interested in partnering or utilizing the solution during the scaling phase, expected to begin in late 2026.

What Comes Next?
Following the event, a Request for Proposals (RFP) will be issued to identify one or more private partners. The implementation period will run from September 2025 to October 2026, with scaling expected by end of 2026. Selected partners will play a key role in delivering solutions for the humanitarian sector – and may become preferred providers in the project’s next phase.
