Digital Oppdragsrapport 28.09.23: Water situation and other engineering-related challenges at Eco Moyo
In times of drought, Eco Moyo Education Center in Kilifi, Kenya has difficulties satisfying their demand for water. They also face other challenges in their day-to-day operations. Based on discussions with Eco Moyo and EWB engineers that previously and currently are involved with the school, Marin Prebeg went on a ten days field trip to the school. During this mission he found a lot of potential to improve the everyday life at the school, in various engineering-related fields.
The scope of his mission included: investigations, observations and recommendations on various technical areas such as: WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene), internet access, solar panels, erosion, dripline irrigation, rainwater harvesting, etc., although the major focus was on WASH. The conclusions are presented as recommendations that goes from simple fixes, improved work processes and to further investigations. This has opened to some new ideas for future collaboration opportunities between IUG and Eco Moyo.
Welcome to an interdisciplinary presentation, followed by discussion about findings and further steps to improve the everyday life for the students and staff at Eco Moyo.
